1 Corinthians 3

Why did Paul have to give the Corinthians spiritual milk instead of solid food? What does Paul have to say about rivalry/factions in the church?

What do I need to do to make sure I am getting good “food”? How does viewing the ministry of the church as a plant or a building affect how I work with and get along with other believers?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, I ask that I would seek You and study Your Word so that I can be addressed as spiritual and not worldly–as mature and not as an infant in Christ. I long for the solid food of Your Word. Help me to be ready for it. Keep me from jealousy and quarreling, for all believers are merely servants, and You have assigned to each of us our task. One may plant the seed and another water it, but only You make it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only You, the one who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and we will be rewarded according to our own labor, for we are fellow workers in Your mission. We are also Your field and Your building. Help me to be careful how I build, making sure it is on the one foundation, Jesus Christ. May my work for You be pure and valuable, like gold, silver, and precious stones and not like wood, hay, and straw that burn away in Your refining fire. I ask that my work for the kingdom would come from a pure heart and a true desire to serve You, so that it will receive a reward. Thank You for indwelling me by Your Spirit, and thereby making me His sacred temple. Keep me from being deceived or deceiving myself. If I start thinking I am wise according to this world’s standards, move me to humble myself and be like a fool so that I will become truly wise. Help me not to boast about myself or other people, for in Christ and only in Him I am heir to all things, for I am of Christ and Christ is of You. I ask all this in the precious Name of Jesus, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Amy & Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Travis & Hali Davidson
  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for area pastors and their families

  • Encouragement
  • Faithfulness in the Lord’s work
  • Finances
  • Marriage/family relationships
  • Work/life balance
  • Deep friendships and support from other Christian leaders

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
