LIFe with God: October 7

1 Corinthians 7

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

What is Paul’s instruction regarding physical intimacy in the marriage relationship? What is God’s command regarding divorced Christians remarrying? What if one spouse is unsaved? What if one spouse dies?

What does Paul mean when he says the time is short? Why are these instructions regarding marriage of such importance to individual Christians and to the church?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father, in this passage we see how important the marriage relationship is to You. I ask that your people would take their marriage vows very seriously. May we commit ourselves to staying married to our Christian spouses. If a spouse divorces someone through no fault of their own, I pray for your comfort and guidance for that person. Help us to follow the instructions You have given us here regarding remarriage. May we all live in devotion to You, whether married or single, divorced or widowed. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…

  • that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
  • that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
  • that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
  • that they would come to salvation
  • that they would be adopted by godly parents

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. – Romans 6:11
