1 Corinthians 9

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

What did Paul do in order to reach others with the Gospel? What is the eternal prize he mentions?

Am I willing to deny myself basic rights if it means winning people to Christ? Do I have the kind of passion for the Gospel Paul had? How disciplined am I in my Christian walk, and what things do I do in order to discipline myself?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, Guide me as to how much I should contribute to my church and other ministries that preach the Gospel, so that their work can move forward. Help me to be willing, within the confines of godly behavior, to adapt my conduct among different groups of people to find common ground so as to be able to reach them with the love of Christ. Give me the kind of passion for sharing the Good News that Paul had. Help me to remember that just as a runner or a boxer must train for competition, I need to discipline my mind and body to follow Your Spirit, to do what they should, so I will glorify You in my life here on earth and on the day when I receive my eternal reward. In the precious Name of Jesus my Savior I pray, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

  • Franceine Anderson
  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware
