Philippians 1

What are the key aspects of Paul’s prayer for the Philippian Christians? How does Paul view his unjust imprisonment?

Do I strive to be a “partner in the gospel” with other Christians? Can I rejoice even when I’m suffering unfairly?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Thank You for Your grace and peace. May I be a person who causes other Christians to be thankful to You. May I bring them joy because of our partnership in the gospel. I am confident that You will complete the good work You began in me. May my love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to discern what is best and remain pure and blameless until You call me home or Christ returns, filled with the fruit of His righteousness to Your glory and praise. May I rejoice even in times of suffering, realizing that You are in control and You have a reason for letting me go through difficulties. May I be a faithful witness during such times so that the gospel is advanced and others are encouraged to speak out more courageously and fearlessly. I ask that I will have sufficient courage so that I will not be ashamed and Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. Remind me that to live is Christ and to die is gain. Whatever happens, help me to conduct myself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, standing firm with my fellow believers in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith without being frightened in any way by those who oppose us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Meridian

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5
