Ephesians 3

What is the “mystery” Paul mentions? What is Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians?

Are you still amazed by the mystery of Jesus Christ revealed? Spend some time praying Paul’s prayer for yourself, for your church, and for your friends and family.

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Thank You for the mystery of Your amazing grace revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. In ancient times this mystery was not made known, except through Your prophets. But then You revealed it in Your incarnated Son, through His life, through His apostles and followers, and through Your Word. This mystery is that, through Him, the Gentiles are made Your heirs together with Israel, members of one body and sharers together in the promise in Jesus Christ. It is by this gift of Your grace that I have been adopted into Your family and made a servant of the Gospel. Thank you for the unsearchable riches of Christ! I ask that through Your church Your manifold wisdom would be made known to rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms according to Your eternal purpose, which You accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Him and through faith in Him I can now approach You with freedom and confidence.

For this reason I kneel before You, Father, from whom Your whole family in heaven and and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of Your glorious riches You would strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. I pray that I would be rooted and established in love, and that I may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and that I would know this love that surpasses knowledge–that I would be filled to the measure of all Your fullness. Now to You, the One who is able to do immeasurably more than all I can ask or imagine–according to Your power that is at work within me–to You be glory in my life, in the church, and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • That they will have hope
  • For mentors in the prison/jail system

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 John 5:14
