Ephesians 4:1-16

How do the qualities in verses 2 and 3 promote unity? How does one keep from being blown here and there by winds of doctrine?

Do I speak the truth? Do I do so in love? What works of service am I doing to build up the body of Christ for unity and maturity?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, As Your prisoner, enable me to live a life worthy of Your calling. Help me to cultivate an attitude of humility and gentleness and patience, bearing with my Christian siblings in love. May I make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. For there is but one body and one Spirit–just as I was called to one hope–one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. You are over all and through all and in all. Thank You for the grace given to each of us as Christ has apportioned it. Thank You that He ascended on high, leading captives in His train, and that He gave gifts to all. Whatever gifts You have given me, help me use them for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach maturity, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Grow me so that I am no longer an infant, tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of the schemes of deceitful men. Instead, enable me to speak the truth in love and to grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. In His name I ask this, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

  • Franceine Anderson
  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 John 5:14
