How are we to live? If we could earn righteousness, what did Christ die for?

How does my life measure up to verses 19-20?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Help me not revert to the old way of life as Peter did in today’s reading. And when I see a brother or sister doing so, help me to confront them as Paul did here. Thank You that we are not justified by observing the law (for no one has ever been made righteous by observing the law) but by faith in Jesus Christ. Help me to remember that I died to sin that I might live to You. Keep me ever mindful that I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me; the life I now live in the body I live by faith in Your Son who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside Your grace, for if I could gain righteousness through the law, than Christ died for nothing! Thank You for Your amazing grace! I pray these things in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • For the salvation of lost friends, relatives, neighbors, etc.

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9
