How do we keep from becoming anxious? What instruction does this passage give about renewing our minds?

Do I lift the things that cause me anxiety to God and trust Him with them, or do I choose to fret and worry over them? Do I spend time filling my mind with the types of things listed in this passage?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I ask that You would help me to agree with other Christians in the Lord. May I always rejoice in You. I ask that Your Spirit would fill me so that my gentleness would be evident to all, and that I would not allow anything to make me anxious, but that in faith I would lift everything to You in prayer with a thankful heart, trusting You to handle it as you see fit. Help me to do this that I might have Your peace, which transcends all understanding, guarding my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help me to think about what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy, and to put into practice the things taught in Your Word. Remind me that You are all I need, and I can be content in whatever the circumstances, trusting that You will provide all my needs according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To You, my God and Father, be glory for ever and ever. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with my spirit. In His name, I ask, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Scott & Kristi Guinn
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Patrick Hall
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Rural towns in Treasure Valley – Emmett, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Middleton, New Plymouth, Parma, Payette, Wilder, Weiser, etc…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. – Psalm 1:1-2
