Observation

What did Jesus mean when He said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God”?

Application

Do I find myself fondly reminiscing about my life in sin? What do I need to give up to Christ to keep my eyes on Him and be fit for service in His kingdom?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I declare, along with Peter, that Jesus is much more than just another good man, good teacher, or prophet–He is Your Son and the promised Messiah. I thank You for sending Him to earth. Jesus, thank You that even though You could see Your horrible death ahead, You still obeyed Your Father and completed Your work so that I could be saved. I confess that I often look fondly on my sin instead of being repulsed by it as I should, but I thank You that even that, too, is covered by Your blood. Grant me strength and discipline to totally turn away from sin and keep my eyes on You, that I might be a fit servant for You and Your kingdom. I ask this in Your Name, Jesus, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
