LIFe with God: December 2

Luke 1:39-80

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

For what things does Mary praise God in her song? How do the events surrounding John’s birth begin to put the wheels of the gospel in motion?

For which of the attributes of God in Mary’s song do I most need to praise Him? In what ways do the current events in my life contribute to propagating the gospel?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father, My soul glorifies You and my spirit rejoices in You, my Savior, for You are mindful of the humble estate of Your servant. I thank you that You were mindful of Mary, and with all generations, I call her blessed, for You did mighty things for her. I thank You also for the mighty things You have done for me. Holy is Your Name! Your mercy extends to those who fear You from generation to generation. You perform mighty deeds and scatter those who are proud in their inner thoughts. You bring down rulers from thrones but lift up the humble. You fill the hungry with good things,  but send the self-sufficient away empty. You help Your people, remembering to be merciful, just as You promised. I praise you that Jesus came to redeem His people. You raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of Your servant David, as You promised through Your prophets long ago, remembering Your holy covenant, the oath you swore to Abraham. You protect us from our enemies, enabling us to serve You without fear in holiness and righteousness before You all of our days. Thank You for the gift of salvation through the forgiveness of sins, because of Your tender mercy by which Your Son came to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission
