LIFe with God: January 7

Hebrews 5:11-6:12

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

What is the problem with people who just listen to the Word but don’t grow in it and implement it in their lives?

Am I a mere spiritual infant when I should be spiritually mature? If so, am I willing to take action to change that?

Dear God, I ask that I would not be a mere spiritual infant, always getting fed, always getting taught, but never growing or learning or maturing in You. Give me the initiative and wisdom to accept Your Word in faith and obey it and learn and grow from it. May I never take it for granted or turn away from it. Keep me from spiritual laziness, and empower me to serve You and Your people in love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Offer your prayer of thanks to God for Christmas and all that it entails.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…

  • that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
  • that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
  • that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
  • that they would come to salvation
  • that they would be adopted by godly parents

I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. – Psalm 119:11 (HCSB)
