LIFe with God: January 14

Hebrews 10:1-18

Read or listen to today’s passage at Bible Gateway:

Why are animal sacrifices or other types of penance no longer needed?

Am I trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice to perfect me?

Dear God, I thank you that Jesus is so much greater than any priest. For while mere human priests stood day after day ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which could never take away sins, Jesus, after offering one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at Your right hand. He is now waiting until His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. Give me a heart that remains grateful and faithful and obedient in response to this great gift by this perfect, all-powerful priest! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Offer your prayer of thanks to God for Christmas and all that it entails.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NET)
