Revelation 1:1-8

What promise is given to the one who will read and follow the book of Revelation? How does this passage speak to those who are skeptical that Jesus ever claimed to be God?

Am I willing to study Revelation and obey it in order to claim God’s promised blessing? Do I truly believe that Jesus is the all-powerful God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You for the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which You gave Him to show His servants what must happen. Thank You for making it clear by sending Your angel to Your servant John, who then testified to everything that he saw concerning the word of God and the testimony about Jesus Christ. I claim Your promise of blessing to the one who reads the words of this prophecy aloud, and to those who hear and obey the things written in it, because the time is near! I thank You for the grace and peace that are mine through Jesus Christ — the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Jesus, the one who loves me and has set me free from my sins at the cost of His own blood and has appointed me into His kingdom as a priest serving You, His God and Father — to Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever! May I remain watchful for the Day when He returns with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of Him. This will certainly come to pass! I believe that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, — the one who is, and who was, and who is still to come — the All-Powerful! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Unity in the Body of Christ…

  • that we would be united in our love for Jesus and each other
  • that we would encourage and support each other
  • that we would focus on Biblical principles in every arena of our lives
  • that we would have a spirit of cooperation in outreach
  • that Satan’s divisive strategies would be confounded

Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!” – 2 Corinthians 5:20
