Revelation 1:9-20

Why does John point out that he shares “the persecution, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus”? What is the significance of Jesus being among the lampstands and holding the stars?

Do I willingly and gladly share in Christ’s persecution as well as His kingdom? Do I possess endurance? Do I trust Christ to be in control of and take care of the church and its leadership?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I thank You that You allow me to share in the persecution, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, and I thank You for revealing Your plan through Your Son to the apostle John. I thank You that Jesus is the eternal one and only unique Son who has authority and power over His church and its leaders. I declare that He alone is the Savior, the resurrected God-man. He is my worthy judge and high priest. He is absolutely pure and holy, and His eyes see all things with perfect insight and judgment. His strength, power and judgment are perfect, and His voice carries all authority throughout the universe. He can but speak a word and worlds are created or destroyed at his discretion. His radiance is greater than the sun. And though the natural human response on seeing Him would be to fall down at His feet as though dead, thank You that He places His right hand on me and says: “Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last, and the one who lives! I was dead, but look, now I am alive — forever and ever — and I hold the keys of death and of Hades!” Thank You that, in Jesus, I am forgiven, justified, sanctified, and redeemed to eternal life with You! In His name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Scott & Kristi Guinn
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Patrick Hall
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached

Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!” – 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NET)
