What is the significance of the description of this scene in heaven?

Do I treat God with the glory, honor, and reverence He deserves?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I praise and honor You as the one seated on the throne like jasper and carnelian in appearance, and a rainbow looking like it was made of emerald encircling the throne. As I read of this heavenly scene–with the twenty-four other thrones in a circle around Your throne, and seated on those thrones the twenty-four elders dressed in white clothing with golden crowns on their heads; the seven flaming torches, which are the seven spirits of God, that burn in front of Your throne; and in front of the throne is something like a sea of glass, like crystal; and From Your throne come out flashes of lightning and roaring and crashes of thunder–I can only respond in worship. The splendor and beauty of this description of Your royal presence fill me with awe. Like the four incredible creatures around Your throne, I declare: “Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God, the All-Powerful, who was and who is, and who is still to come,” and I give glory, honor, and thanks to You, the one who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever. With the twenty-four elders, I throw myself to the ground before You and worship You, and I offer all I am and all I have before Your throne, saying: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, since you created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created!” Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Pray for me also, that I may be given the message when I begin to speak — that I may confidently make known the mystery of the gospel – Ephesians 6:19 (NET)
