Matthew 12

What was Jesus’ point regarding the Sabbath? About his family?

Am I more concerned with worshiping on a certain day than with showing God’s love to others? Am I a member of Christ’s family?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Help me to be more focussed on having a heart that desires to do good and show Your love than on the appearance of “being religious”. I thank You that, because of Christ, I am a member of Your family forever. Help me to show others that they, too, can be adopted into Your family if they will simply accept Your gift. I ask all of this in the name of the One who gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Scott & Kristi Guinn
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Patrick Hall
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

And entrust what you heard me say in the presence of many others as witnesses to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well. – 2 Timothy 2:2 (NET)
