Scripture

Matthew 15

Observation

For what did Jesus criticize the Pharisees? How did the crowds respond after seeing Jesus perform miracles?

Application

Do I concern myself more with tradition and appearance than with truth and a pure heart? Do I give God praise for all His mighty works?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Keep me from the attitudes of the Pharisees. May I never place the traditions of men anywhere near the honor and respect Your Word deserves. May I never be more concerned with appearing to be righteous than with having a heart that desires to be more like You. Remind me to praise You for all the wonderful things You do in Your perfect love, grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
