Mark 11:1-19

Why was Jesus so upset at the temple? Why were the priests and scribes plotting to assassinate Him?

Is my attitude toward those who use God’s Word for personal gain and exploiting others the same as that of Jesus? Am I amazed by Jesus’ teaching? Do I give my time to studying it?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, With the crowds outside Jerusalem that day, I proclaim, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” May Your name be praised and exalted in my life. Help me never to use Christianity as a means of ill-gotten gain, and may I never withhold Your message from someone because they don’t have money. Rather, I ask that You would drive such people out of the midst of Your flock. Help me to dedicate myself to studying and passing along Your amazing teaching. I ask this in Your Name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Meridian

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you. – James 4:7
