Observation
What is the significance of the temple curtain being torn in two from top to bottom? What was the centurion’s response at seeing how Jesus died? Why did Joseph ask for Jesus’ body?
Application
Do I take advantage of the access to God that has been granted me by Christ’s sacrifice? Do I sincerely say in awe, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”? Do I have the boldness that comes from looking forward to the kingdom of God?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Thank You for the atoning sacrificial death of Jesus. May I never take it for granted. Thank You for tearing the curtain covering the entrance to the holy of holies from top to bottom, signifying the open access to Yourself that You have given all who are in Christ. Help me never to take that for granted, either. May I always retain the awe of the centurion at the crucifixion, that truly Jesus is Your Son. Help me to keep my spiritual eyes fixed on Your kingdom, and give me the boldness for You that comes from that perspective. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
