What is the aim of biblical instruction? What must one do to fight the good fight?

Am I allowing God’s Word to work in and through me to grow love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith? Am I holding firmly to faith and a good conscience?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Keep me from false teachings, myths, and endless genealogies, for these promote useless speculations rather than Your redemptive plan that operates by faith. Help me to feed on Your Word, and may Your Spirit build within me love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. May I never stray from these, and may I never try to put myself or others back under the tyranny of the law. Thank You for the glorious gospel! Thank You that although I was formerly an arrogant blasphemer in my sinful state, You treated me with mercy and saved me by the blood of Christ, who came into the world to save sinners like me. Now to You–the eternal King, immortal, invisible, the only God–be honor and glory forever and ever! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Janeth & Moy

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski
  • Debbie & Amy Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton

  • Lito Dictican, Port of Tacoma

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33 (NET)
