Observation

What is the proper attitude toward money? What should we pursue instead?

Application

Does my desire for material wealth supercede my desire for godliness? Am I competing well for the faith?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Keep me from false teachings, and help me to pursue godliness with contentment. Help me to be satisfied with what You provide, and to remember that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Keep me from stumbling into the trap and destruction that the desire to be rich brings. Instead, may I pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness. Help me to compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life I was called for and made my good confession for. As Your Spirit helps me, I will obey this command without fault or failure until the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ — whose appearing You, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the right time. He alone possesses immortality and lives in unapproachable light, whom no human has ever seen or is able to see. To Him be honor and eternal power! Amen.
