How are we to treat our spiritual leaders? What is God’s will for us (16-18)?

Do I love and highly esteem those who serve as my spiritual leaders? Am I in the will of God: do I always rejoice, constantly pray, and give thanks in everything?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Help me to acknowledge those who labor and preside over me in the Lord and admonish me. Remind me to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Help me, for my part, to be at peace with everyone. Strengthen me to admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, and be patient toward all. May I not pay back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for all. Help me to always rejoice, constantly pray, and give thanks in everything, for this is Your will for me in Christ Jesus. May I not extinguish the Spirit or treat prophecies with contempt, but rather examine all things and hold fast to what is good. Keep me away from every form of evil. I ask that You, the God of peace, will make me completely holy and keep my spirit and soul and body entirely blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank You that You are the one who calls me–You are trustworthy, and You will in fact do this. I pray this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, my coming King! Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…

  • that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
  • that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
  • that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
  • that they would come to salvation
  • that they would be adopted by godly parents

But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33 (NET)
