2 Thessalonians 1

Why did Paul and company speak proudly of the Thessalonians? What was their prayer for the Thessalonians?

Is my faith, love, and perseverance growing? Is Jesus glorified in my life?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I ask that my faith would be greatly enlarged, and my love for Your people would grow ever greater. Grant me perseverance and faith in the midst of persecutions and afflictions, that I might endure them. Help me to view affliction as a plain indication of Your righteous judgment so that I will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed I may suffer. For I know You will repay with affliction those who afflict Your children, and give relief to those who are afflicted when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know You and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from Your presence and from the glory of Your power, when Christ comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed. I pray that you would make me worthy of Your calling and fulfill by Your power every desire for goodness and every work of faith, that the name of the Lord Jesus may be glorified in me, and me in Him, according to the grace that comes from You and the Lord Jesus Christ. I ask this in the name of the One who gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33 (NET)
