Observation

What does this passage teach us about those who predict Christ’s return on a specific date, or those who say He has returned already? Why did God call us to salvation?

Application

Do I consistently spend time in God’s Word so that I am not easily confused, disturbed, or led astray? Do I live in a manner that displays God’s truth and the glory of Christ?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, Keep me from being misled by false teachers who proclaim that the day of the Lord is already here. Help me to stand firm and remain in Your Word, knowing that it will be obvious when that day occurs. I thank You that You love me and that the Father’s will is that I grow in holiness and in Your glory–show me how to reveal that more and more in my life. I ask that You and the Father, who loved me and by grace gave me eternal comfort and good hope, would encourage my heart and strengthen me in every good thing I do or say. I ask this in Your Name, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33 (NET)
