Micah 5-6

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Who is the ruler described and promised in 5:2-5? What does God require of His people (6:8)?

Do I look to the Good Shepherd for my peace? In my daily life am I acting justly, loving faithfulness, and walking humbly with my God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for the wonderful promise of Micah 5:2-5 fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ! I thank You that He shepherds His flock in Your strength and in the majesty of Your name. I thank you that because I am in His flock, I will live securely for eternity and He will be my peace. In the meantime, help me to do what is good and what You require of me: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with You, my Lord and my God. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you – Matthew 5:44 (HCSB)
