Observation
How does the book of Nahum display God’s righteous judgment against the enemies of His people? What comforting promise is given in 1:7?
Application
Am I willing to wait on the Lord to carry out justice? Do I believe He is good and cares for those who trust in Him?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy, but also thank You that You are an avenging God who, though slow to anger, are great in power and will not leave the unrepentant guilty unpunished. You are good, Lord, and I praise You as my refuge in times of trouble. Thank You that You care for those who trust in You. May i never forget that. In Jesus’ name I ask this, Amen.
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
