Psalms 11-15

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Psalms 11-13 have a common theme: the wicked oppressing the righteous. Yet, how does David end each of these psalms? What does the Bible call the person who says there is no God? What does Psalm 15 tell us about the person who follows and obeys the Lord (verse 5b)?

Do I praise and trust in the Lord even in difficult times and even when I’m being unfairly treated? Do I seek after God and nurture my relationship with Him so that I will never be shaken?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, As I look at the world around me, I see evil men flourishing while many people who faithfully follow You are persecuted. Yet I know that one day You will judge the wicked. I know that You love justice and that those who have the righteousness of Christ will see Your face. Though we may be persecuted in this life, You will keep us safe and protect us from such people throughout all eternity. Though evil may pursue me, I have trusted in Your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance. I will sing to You because You have treated me generously. Those who say You do not exist are fools. They are corrupt; their actions are revolting. There is no one who does good. But those who are in Christ receive His righteousness, and You are with them. You are our refuge, and when we remain in You, we can never be moved! Thank You, Father! I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Caldwell

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. – Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
