Psalms 16-17

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What good things do we have apart from the Lord (16:2)? What is most important to David (17:15)?

Do I regularly thank God and give Him glory for providing me with all good things? Is fellowship with Him my top priority?

Dear Lord, Thank You for being a God who loves and who provides every good and perfect gift. Help me always to remember that all good things come from You. Because I am Yours, my heart is glad, and my spirit rejoices; my body also rests securely. For You will not abandon me to the grave or leave me to decay into nothingness. You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures. Let my vindication come from You, for You see what is right. My steps are on Your paths; my feet have not slipped. I call on You, God, because You will answer me. Display the wonders of Your faithful love, Savior of all who seek refuge from those who rebel against Your right hand. Guard me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings. I will see Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Star and Eagle

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. – Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
