Jonah 1-2

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What impossible thing was Jonah trying to do? What consequence did he face? When did God choose to deliver him?

Do I ever try to run and hide from the presence of the LORD? What have some of the consequences been? How has God shown me mercy, even after my disobedience?

Dear Lord, So often, like Jonah, I want my way instead of Your way. Too many times, I try to run and hide from You, forgetting that You always only do what is best for me. I praise You that even though I may have to face some dire consequences because of my disobedience and foolishness, You always show mercy and grace and forgiveness, and in the scope of eternity, I am already fully and totally delivered! Help me to obey You more quickly and completely, trusting Your will and Your way. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

From that time Jesus began to preach this message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” – Matthew 4:17 (NET)
