Observation
What mistake did Israel make regarding their visitors (verse 14b)? What did Joshua do when he discovered they had been deceived?
Application
Do I rush into decisions without consulting the Lord? Do I keep my word, even when it hurts (see Psalm 15:4)?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Keep me from rushing into decisions; remind me to seek Your will before I act. And if I do make a mistake, promising something when I’ve rushed ahead of You, give me the grace and strength to have the integrity to keep my word. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
