Hosea 7

What do verses 13b-14 teach us about God’s heart for His people?

Do I call out for God’s redemption or just wallow in self-pity?

Dear Lord, I call to You; my Rock! Do not let me fall into the trap of trusting the world or myself, for both will sap my strength before I realize it. Do not let me be easily deceived, looking for politics or philosophy as my source of help. Keep me from rebellion against You, and so from destruction. I thank You that You long to redeem Your people. Remind me to cry out to You rather than wail on my bed, for it is You who teaches and strengthens me. Keep me from ever straying, but if I do, may I return to You, Most High. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

He has given us the privilege, since we have been rescued from our enemies’ clutches, to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness in His presence all our days. – Luke 1:73b-75 (ISV)
