Scripture

Proverbs 13

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

What happens to those who hate/ignore instruction and correction (verses 13-18)? Why should one carefully consider the company he keeps (verse 20)?

Application

What is my attitude and response toward instruction, correction, and rebuke? What kind of company do I keep, and how is it influencing me?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, Help me to receive and respond properly to instruction, correction, and rebuke, that I may grow in wisdom and maturity in You. Keep me ever aware of the company I’m in, remembering that The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. – Colossians 3:16
