Proverbs 15

Observation

What does verse 1 teach about handling conflict? What attitude should a child of God have toward material wealth (verses 16-17)? How can I know if God hears my prayers (verse 29)?

Application

How should I respond in heated discussions or when mediating conflict? Am I more concerned with garnering “the finer things” of this life, or do I take my joy in the Lord and His love? God’s Word promises that He hears the prayer of the righteous and that the righteousness of Christ is imputed to all who receive Him. Do I really believe this?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Lord, Give me wisdom and discernment when I am facing interpersonal conflict, and help me to answer gently and appropriately in Your love, rather than harshly in my anger. I ask that You would give me a heart that desires to fear You and love You far above anything the world has to offer. Thank You that because I have the righteousness of Christ by His blood, You promise that you hear my prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
