Proverbs 19

Observation

How does Solomon describe showing kindness to the poor, and what does he say will be the result (verse 17)? Why should one continue in God’s Word and keep going to church and Bible studies (verse 27)?

Application

In what ways do I show kindness to the poor? What are some ways I need to start doing so? Do I continually listen to Godly instruction, or have I strayed from the ways of knowledge?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, Your Word says that kindness to the poor is a loan to You, and You will give a reward to the lender. Remind me of this with the poor who come across my path. You also said that if I stop listening to instruction, I stray from the words of knowledge. Help me never to grow weary of Your instruction! I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

Ministries:

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Star and Eagle

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. – Ephesians 6:6
