Proverbs 3

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What must one do to receive God’s guidance (verses 5-6)? What does God do to those He loves (11-12)?

Do I trust in the Lord with all my heart and think about Him in all my ways? Do I rebel at His instruction and discipline, or embrace it as coming from a Father who is trying to teach me and help me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father, May I never let loyalty and faithfulness leave me so I will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man. Teach me to trust in You with all my heart, and not rely on my own understanding; remind me to think about You in all my ways, and guide me on the right paths. Help me not to think of myself as wise, but instead to fear you and turn away from evil, for this is healing to my body and strengthening to my bones.

Help me to be faithful in honoring You with my possessions, that I might honor You and see You work. Remind me not to despise Your instruction, and not loathe Your discipline; for You discipline the one You love, just as a father, the son he delights in. Help me to find wisdom and acquire understanding, that I may be happy. For only You can give wisdom, Father. You created all things by Your wisdom.

So as I search Your Word and seek Your wisdom, I ask that you would grant it to me and that I would never lose sight of it, for it will be life for me and guide me safely on my way, and my foot will not stumble. I will not be afraid when I lie down, and my sleep will be pleasant, for You will be my confidence.

May I never withhold good from another when it is in my power, or plot evil against another, or accuse anyone without cause. I humble myself before You, because you resist the proud, but give grace to the humble. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.
