Observation
What does today’s passage have to say about laziness? What seven things does God hate?
Application
Have I been lazy in obeying and following God? Are any of the seven things God hates traits in my life?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, keep me from a lazy spirit. help me to follow and obey You in even the mundane aspects of my life. May I never have arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil, or be a lying witness who gives false testimony or one who stirs up trouble among brothers! In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen!
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
- David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
- Bob & Peggy Hoover
Ministry:
- Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing
CLF:
- Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.
Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…
- that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
- that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
- that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
- that they would come to salvation
- that they would be adopted by godly parents
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. – Ephesians 1:7-8 (HCSB)
