Observation

In light of the fact that Jesus could return at any moment, how should Christians live (1-11)? How does this look in practical daily living (12-22)?

Application

Do I live in the daylight of God’s truth and righteousness? How well am I carrying out the instructions in verses 12-22?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You for saving me and making me a child of light and of the day, and not of the night or of darkness. Help me to remain spiritually awake and alert, wearing the armor of faith and love on my chest and the helmet of the hope of salvation. Thank You that You did not appoint Your children to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore, may we encourage each other and build each other up.

Remind us to give recognition to those who labor and lead us in the Lord and admonish us, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Strengthen us to be at peace among ourselves. Give us wisdom to know when we need to warn those who are lazy, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, and may we always be patient with everyone. May no one repay evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.

Make us (that includes me!) people who rejoice always, pray constantly, and give thanks in everything, for this is Your will for us in Christ Jesus. Help us not to stifle the Spirit or despise prophecies, but to test all things. May we ever hold on to what is good and stay away from every form of evil. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew)
  • Brian & Eileen Davis

Missionaries:

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

CLF:

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. – Hebrews 9:28 (HCSB)
