Scripture

2 Thessalonians 1-2

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

What will happen on the day Christ returns (chap 1)? What are we to do in the meantime (2:15)?

Application

Do I try to get revenge or do I leave it up to God? Am I standing firm and holding to the things taught in God’s Word?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You that Jesus WILL return one day, and on that day He will put all things right. Help me to walk in that great and blessed hope. In the meantime, help me to stand firm and hold to the instruction and promises in Your Word by a living and active faith. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. – Hebrews 9:28 (HCSB)
