Ephesians 1

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Why did God choose us and predestine us to be adopted into His family (4-6)? What do we have in Christ (7-8)? How did God demonstrate His power (20-22)?

Am I living a holy and blameless life? Am I trusting in Christ’s blood alone for my redemption and forgiveness, and trust God as the source of all wisdom and understanding? Do I give Christ the glory due him, putting Him above all things and submitting to him as the Head of His church?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, in Christ; for You chose me in Christ, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in Your sight. In love You predestined me to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Yourself, according to Your favor and will, to the praise of Your glorious grace that You favored me with in the Beloved Savior. In Him I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of my trespasses, according to the riches of Your grace that You lavished on me with all wisdom and understanding. I pray that You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give me a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened so I may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength. Thank You for demonstrating your power by raising Christ from the dead and seating Him at Your right hand in the heavens far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come. For You put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church. Therefore, may I always submit to Him as my head, and give Him the honor and glory due Him by praising and worshiping Him with my life as well as with my lips. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

Community: Rural towns in Treasure Valley – Emmett, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Middleton, New Plymouth, Parma, Payette, Wilder, Weiser, etc…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials

  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. – Psalm 1:1-2 (HCSB)
