Ephesians 3

What was the great mystery revealed to Paul (5-6)? What did Paul pray for the Ephesians (14-19a)? To what end (19b-21)?

Am I thankful to God for revealing the great mystery of the ages: that Gentiles are able to become part of God’s kingdom and God’s family through Jesus Christ? Do I pray Paul’s prayer regularly for myself and my brothers and sisters in Christ?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father from whom very family in heaven and on earth is named, thank You for making even formerly godless Gentiles co-heirs, members of the same body, and partners of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I pray that Your multi-faceted wisdom may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens. This is according to the purpose of the ages, which You made in the Messiah, Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness, access, and confidence through faith in Him. I pray that You may grant me and my fellow believers, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in the inner man, and that the Messiah may dwell in our hearts through faith. I pray that we, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of Your love, and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so we may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to You, the One who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think–according to the power that works in us–to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. – Psalm 1:1-2 (HCSB)
