Philippians 1

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Why was Paul thankful for the Philippians (5)? What was Paul’s hope (20)? What did he want of the Philippians (27)?

Do I treat my fellow believers as partners in the gospel and in God’s grace? Is my highest priority and greatest hope that Christ will be highly honored in my body? Do I live my life in a manner worthy of the gospel?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Blessed God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Thank You for Your grace that saves, sustains and secures me. Thank you for making me a partner in the grace of the gospel with all other true believers. I confess that too often I see some of them more as competitors or even enemies rather than partners. Change my heart and mind, Lord! Thank you that You started a good work in me the moment I received Christ, and that You will carry it out to completion at the Day of His return or the day You call me home to glory! Until then, may my love keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so I can determine what really matters and be pure and blameless, filled with His righteousness to your glory and praise. Help me to use adversity as a means to shine you light even more boldly. May I live so as not to be ashamed about anything, but that Christ would be honored in my body, in life and in death. Strengthen me to live my life worthy of the gospel of Christ, standing firm with Your people in one spirit, with one mind, working side by side for the faith, not being frightened in any way by opposition. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Unity in the Body of Christ…

  • that we would be united in our love for Jesus and each other
  • that we would encourage and support each other
  • that we would focus on Biblical principles in every arena of our lives
  • that we would have a spirit of cooperation in outreach
  • that Satan’s divisive strategies would be confounded

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments and untraceable His ways! – Romans 11:33 (HCSB)
