Psalm 34

About what did David unashamedly boast? What comfort can the brokenhearted take from this chapter?

Do I glory and revel in the greatness of God? When I am brokenhearted, do I remember He is near and run to Him?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Oh Great God and Lord of All, I will praise You at all times; Your praise will always be on my lips. May I never boast in anything but You, and let the humble hear, be glad, and proclaim Your greatness and exalt You together with me. I thank You that I sought You and You answered me and delivered me. May I ever look to You and be radiant with joy and never ashamed. Thank You for saving the poor and for surrounding those who fear You and rescuing them. Every day, lead me to taste and see that You are good! How happy are those who take refuge in You, for they will lack no good thing. For Your eyes are on the righteous and Your ears are open to their cry for help. Thank You, Lord, that You are near the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit. Many adversaries may come against me, but You save me from them all. Even if I should die, You will redeem my life. I praise You, Lord! In the name of Christ Jesus to Your glory I pray this. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Brook & Erica Butts (Brooklyn, Boston)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

  • Jenn Austring
  • Sher Brodoski
  • Debbie & Amy Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton

  • Lito Dictican

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

But based on His promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell. – 2 Peter 3:13 (HCSB)
