Psalm 36

Observation

What keeps the wicked from turning from their sin? What does David say about God’s character?

Application

Do I examine myself honestly, or do I flatter myself too much to discover and hate my sin? Do I bask in God’s faithful love, ponder it, share it, and thank Him for it?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Keep me from deceiving myself and flattering myself too much to discover and hate my sin. May I carefully consider the words of my mouth and act wisely and do good. May the plans I make be in line with Your plans, Lord; may I walk a path that is good and rejects evil. LORD, Your faithful love reaches to heaven, Your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountain; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. LORD, You preserve man and beast. God, Your faithful love is so valuable that people take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They are filled from the abundance of Your house; You let them drink from Your refreshing stream, for with You is life’s fountain. In Your light we will see light. Spread Your faithful love over those who know You, and Your righteousness over the upright in heart. Do not let the foot of the arrogant come near me or the hand of the wicked drive me away. Thank You that one day Christ will return and take His rightful throne, and there the evildoers will fall; they will have been thrown down and will not rise. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Missionaries:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. – 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (HCSB)
