Psalm 37

What does David say about the future of even flourishing wicked people? What should the godly person do (3-8, 34)?

Do I allow myself to get agitated, frustrated, and envious of evildoers who seemingly always get ahead? Do I trust in God, take my delight in Him do good, and wait on Him?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, help me to remember that even though it often seems like the wicked have it better than the righteous, this is just temporary. How much better to be poor for the brief time I have on this earth and rich for all eternity, rather than vice versa! So I ask that You would lead me in Your way: to trust You and do what is good; to take delight in You; to commit my way to You and trust You to act; to be silent before You and wait expectantly for You; to refrain from anger, rage, and agitation; to wait for You and keep Your way. For my salvation is from You, my refuge in a time of distress. You help and deliver me. You will deliver me from the wicked and save me because I take refuge in You. I praise you, my Lord and my God! In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. – 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (HCSB)
