Psalm 38

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did David respond to his own sin? What was his declaration (15)?

Do I treat sin seriously? Do I trust in the saving grace of the blood of Jesus Christ to buy my pardon?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Blessed God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, I am heavy-hearted when I think of how much and how often I sin. It overwhelms me. You see it all, and I am without excuse. I cannot do anything to make it right. So I do the only thing I can, Lord: I put my hope in You. I put my trust in Christ my Savior, and I claim His blood as the only payment for my sin, and the righteousness imputed to me by Him as my only way to be righteous. And because of Jesus, I know that You hear me, You answer me, You forgive me, and You save me! I thank You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. – 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (HCSB)
