Why should believers be united (1-2)? What kind of attitude should we have?

Do I live in true fellowship and unity with God’s people? Do I make my attitude the same as Christ’s, sacrificially giving up my own rights and privileges when necessary to serve others? Do I allow God to work in me without grumbling or complaining?

Dear God my Father, Thank You for the encouragement in Christ, the consolation of love, the fellowship with the Spirit, and the affection and mercy I have in You and Your children. Help me to live in fellowship and unity with them, thinking the same way, having the same love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal. May I do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than myself, looking out not only for my own interests, but theirs as well. Make my attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death–even to death on a cross. This is why You highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee in heaven, on earth, and under the earth should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to Your glory, Father! So I choose to obey You, and to live out my salvation with fear and trembling, for it is You Yourself working in me enabling me to choose and to act for Your good purpose. Therefore, remind me to do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that I may be blameless and pure, a child of God who is faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom I shine like a star in the world as I hold firmly Your word of life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached
