Psalm 43

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What does David do when oppressed by an ungodly nation and unjust men? What does he ask to have to lead him?

Do I spend more time praying for God to intervene on behalf of my nation, or complaining and protesting? Do I seek God’s light and truth to lead me in life, or do I just “wing it”?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, When I face oppression for doing what is right from my government or Your enemies, vindicate me, God, and defend my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from the deceitful and unjust man. You are my refuge. You’ve given Your light and truth in Your Word–remind me to study it and mediate on it and let it lead me. Let it bring me into Your presence, and may I dwell there. I come before You, God, my greatest joy. I praise You with music, God, my God. Keep me from allowing depression and turmoil to rule me. I put my trust in You, and I still praise You, my Savior and my God! In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6 (HCSB)
