What is the meaning of the Parable of the Sower? Of the the lamp? Who did Jesus say are in His family? After rebuking the wind and waves, why did Jesus rebuke the disciples?

What kind of soil is my heart for the seed of God’s Word? Do I let my light shine in the world? Do I accept all who hear and do the Word of God as my spiritual family? Do I have faith that Jesus is stronger than the storms life throws at me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Help me be good ground for Your Word; give me an honest and good heart that listens to what you have to say, holds onto it, and by enduring, bears fruit. I pray that my life would be a lamp in this dark world, that you can hold up for others to see to show them the way to You. I am in Your family because of Christ; remind me to continually go on hearing and doing Your Word, and that others who do likewise are in Your family, too. Lord, I believe Jesus calmed the wind and waves by simply speaking to them briefly. A Savior who can do that is more than powerful enough to get me safely through the storms of life. Increase my faith, and may I ever trust Him. I ask this in His name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for area pastors and their families:

  • Encouragement
  • Faithfulness in the Lord’s work
  • Finances
  • Marriage/family relationships
  • Work/life balance
  • Deep friendships and support from other Christian leaders

I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. – Psalm 119:11 (HCSB)
