Genesis 13

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What does Abram do for Lot that reveals his godly character? And what does Lot do that shows his character is lacking?

Do I humble myself and place others before myself? Do I choose to live among and be influenced by the worldly, ungodly crowd, or do I dedicate myself to God even as i have to live in this ungodly world?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear God my Father, I want to be like Abram and not like Lot. Give me a heart that is humble and chooses to generously serve others instead of claiming my own rights. Give me a desire to follow You and make Your ways my priority instead of desiring what the world offers. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Mountain Home…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed

how much more will the blood of the Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God? – Hebrews 9:14 (HCSB)
