Genesis 1

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What method did God use to create the universe and everything in it? How long did it take Him? How did he critique His own work? What is special about humankind (26-27)?

Do I take Scripture on faith and believe that God spoke the universe into existence in one week? Do I agree with God that His handiwork is very good? Do I place a premium on human life as being created in the image of God and having dominion over the rest of creation in the world?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear God my Father, I worship You as the Creator of all things. By Your powerful word the creation sprang into existence in only six days, and it was very good, indeed! I hold human life in high esteem as the pinnacle of Your creation, made in Your image and having dominion over the earth and everything in it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached

You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4 (HCSB)
